Bald Eagle Improves to 5-0 with Win over Central

The Central Dragons and Bald Eagle Area Eagles faced off on Friday night. This game was full of trick plays and penalties but in the end, Bald Eagle came out victorious. One of the biggest parts of the Eagles win was junior quarterback Jaden Jones. Jones rushed for 96 yards for 2 touchdowns, along with 265 passing yards with 3 touchdowns. Central quarterback Noah Muthler had a big game as well. He accounted for 36 yards rushing for 2 touchdowns, along with 187 passing yards for 1 touchdown. However, the biggest difference in this game was turnovers. Central had four turnovers to Bald Eagles one. This made a huge impact because three of the four were in the second half.
The game was back and forth with both teams in the first quarter right up to the end when Central fullback Ben Kurtz took the ball in from 2 yards out for the first score of the game. The kick was good making the score 7-o Central. The very next drive Bald Eagle area drove down the field to the Central one-yard line. With the help of the entire Bald Eagle team, they were able to push Jaden Jones across the goal line to get on the scoreboard. The kick was no good making the score 7-6 in Central’s favor. The following Central drive resulted in punt giving Bald Eagle the ball in good field position. Quarterback Jaden Jones connected with receiver Kaden Bittinger from 11 yards out with 10:23 left in the second quarter. They went for the two-point conversion and it was good making the score 14-7 Bald Eagle. The rest of the first half was a complete back and forth ball game. To start, Central’s quarterback scampered in from 4 yards out for his first touchdown of the night. The kick was no good making the score 14-13 Bald Eagle. The Central Dragons had a huge wing of momentum which allowed them to take the ball right down the field. Bald Eagles defense toughened up and stuffed them to force a turnover on Central’s 7-yard line. The following drive Jones found receiver Nick Turner for the 34-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion was no good making the score 20-13 Bald Eagle. Central’s following drive they get down the field and with 16 seconds left Muthler scored from 1-yard out. Central pulled out one of their many trick plays for the two-point conversion. Muthler took the ball like he was gonna run for the goal line but ended up jumping in the air and tossing the ball into the end zone to Logan Marko. This made the score 21-20 Central heading into halftime.
To start the second half Bald Eagle came out rolling. The first drive Bald Eagle came out and put up points. Gage McClenahan put points up with a 15-yard touchdown with 10:32 left in the third. This made the score 28-21 Bald Eagle after a successful two-point conversion. This was just the start for the Eagles scoring. Central’s next drive was shut down forcing a punt. This was Jones one bad time during the whole game in which he threw his lone interception. However, Central turned the ball right back over when Bald Eagles Mathew Reese stepped in front of Central’s receiver to take the ball back. With 4:00 left to go in the third quarter, Jones connected with Bittinger for the second time for 41 yards. The kick was good making the score 35-21 Bald Eagle. Central’s next drive ended with a Nick Turner interception. Following that Jones and the Eagles drove down the field and ended with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Kael Gardner. The kick was good making it 42-21 Bald Eagle. Central again turned the ball over off of a Bittinger interception. Jones scored his final touchdown on the next drive when he ran in from 1-yard out with 8:29 left to go in the fourth quarter. Central would get on the scoreboard the next drive with a pass from Muthler to Zack Parks from 27 yards out. The kick was good making it 48-28 Bald Eagle. To end the game Bald Eagle Linebacker Blake Roberts intercepted Muthler with a little over 3 minutes left in the game. Bald Eagle got in the end zone one more time with a 40-yard run with 1:57 left to go. The kick was no good making the final score 54-28 Bald Eagle.
