The Penns Valley Rams gained a huge victory last night against the Bishop Carroll Huskies. Leading the Rams attack was junior quarterback Aaron Tobias. One of the biggest plays of the night was right after halftime with the Rams down 14-13, Tobias found tight end, Logan Snyder for a huge 44-yard touchdown. He finished with just under 200 yards passing with four touchdowns to go along with it. The second half of this game was all Rams. They put up four touchdowns to the Huskies zero.
The game started out with a huge strike for a 45-yard touchdown from Tobias to senior Cole Breon for a quick 6-0 lead. Kicker Gage Ripka made the extra point making the score 7-0 Rams. The Huskies were quick to respond. Quarterback Jarret Grove found his favorite target of the night Hunter Dumm for a 21-yard touchdown with 8:17 left in the first half. Rams Ryan Ripka took one of his two touchdowns to the house with 4:30 left to go in the 2nd quarter giving the Rams a 13-7 lead after a missed extra point. Jarret Grove connected with Hunter Dumm with just 26 seconds left in the first half from 13 yards out to make the score 13-13. The extra point was good giving the Huskies their first and only lead of the night 14-13. Grove connected with Dumm for 66 of his final 89 yards passing for the night. This was a huge momentum swing for the Huskies heading into the half. It didn’t seem to carry over for them though, as Penns Valley came out swinging in the second half. Tobias found Snyder for a 44 yards touchdown with 9:23 left to go in the third. The two-point conversion was no good making the score 19-14 Rams. Both teams exchanged turnovers giving the Rams the ball with 2:52 left in the 3rd quarter. Two plays later Ripka took his second touchdown in for the night on a second and seven from 54 yards out, This gave the Rams a 25-14 lead. The two-point conversion was good giving the Rams the 27-14 lead. The score stayed the same going into the 4th quarter. To start the fourth Rams corner Gage Ripka intercepted Grove giving the ball right around the 50-yard line. Penns Valley drove down the field and capped off the drive with a Tobias touchdown pass. It was a 15-yard screen to Austin Fisher and he rumbled and trucked defenders to reach the end zone with 8:27 left to go in the 4th. The score was now 35-14 Rams. The last score of the game came with 3:32 left in the fourth when Tobias connected with Breon for the second time of the night from 14 yards out. This gave the Rams a 42-14 lead in which was also the final score of the night. The Rams had big contributions from many players but the biggest was Tobias, Ripka, Breon, and Snyder. These guys all combined for close to 500 yards of offense. The Rams move to 5-3 on the year as the Huskies move to 2-6.
