BEA is off to it’s first 4-0 start since 2012, only the second time they’ve accomplished this feat in the past 24 years, In 1993 the Bald Eagles got off to a 5-0 start, but it wasn’t easy tonight. While the two teams were warming up, BEA head coach Jesse Nagle was worried. “We’ve been playing good ball, but I’m

worried about a let down.” Coming out of the locker room at halftime with a slim 14-6 lead over Bishop Carroll, he backed that statement up. “Exactly what I was worried about, we didn’t play good BEA ball at all that first half.” The

Eagles scored on a pair of Blake Roberts touchdown runs (2 and 3 yards) in the first quarter but their offense was shut down by a Husky team the has to learn to finish games. “We’re young, we’re learning to win still.

Last week we held a good Tyrone team tight into halftime. We’ll have to do the same thing today to have a chance” said BC coach Sean Billings pregame.  It wasn’t to be as the Eagles pulled away in the second half to get a 35-6 win and remain unbeaten.

With just over a minute left in the first half, BC quarterback Jake Zazvrskey got his team into the endzone on a two play drive, first running 20 yards then finding Gave Yahner who outreached two defenders to bring the Huskies within 8 at the break.

“We didn’t play good at all, but that was huge to get ahead quickly in the second half” said WesternPAFootball.net player of the game Blake Roberts who finished with 100 yards, 4 tds and an interception. The Eagles defense tightened up in the second half and BEA dominated the last two quarters. Jaden Jones, who entered the game with 13 touchdowns and 1,031 yards in the air, was pretty much shut down in the first half, with only six completions, but came out firing on the first BEA possession of the second half. Gage McClenahan put his team in great position to start the half with a huge punt return to the BC 14. Roberts got his third score from 5 yards out to make it 22-6 after the successful 2 point conversion.

The Eagle defense forced a three and out, and Roberts got his fourth, a 45 yard run to make it 28-6. “My line, when we needed it they made the holes” said Roberts. Jones got things rolling for Bald Eagle from the start and it looked like this was going to be a run away. The talented qb marched his team 90 yards, completing one pass and a successful fake punt deep in their own territory to keep the drive alive. Roberts got his first score of the night to end the drive. Just a couple plays into the Huskies first drive, Kael Gardner pounce on a loose ball at the BC ten. Roberts got number two from 3 yards out.  Jones was held out of the endzone in the air but scored the games last td on a 4 yard run in the third quarter. He finished the night 10 of 21 for 145 yards in the air and 25 yards with the td on the ground.

For the Huskies, Trevor Hogue was weld to 22 yards on 8 carries while Zazvrskey had just 38 yards rushing and was 6 of 10 for 75 yards and a td, 45 of those yards came on the td drive in the second quarter.
