Norwin DB Gianni Rizzo will spend his college football career with Youngstown St. @giannirizzo04 @NKnightsFBall

Norwin DB Gianni Rizzo has had a fun recruiting process to watch. With an offer sheet that consists of Fordham, Bucknell, Yale, Rmu, Albany, Holy Cross, Furman, Citadel, Eastern Kentucky, Duquesne, Akron, Elon, New Hampshire and Army the choices came hard and fast. But in the end, it was the Youngstown State program that won him and his family over, and that’s where hes heading after high school. We asked him about his commitment:

WPA: why did you choose YSU?

Gianni: I chose YSU because it was the right fit and had the combination of being close to home, great competition and they had my major

WPA: who was your biggest influence at YSU, who recruited you?

Gianni:  Coach baker and coach Bricillo did a great job reciting me to YSU

WPA: what do your parents think of your decision?

Gianni: My parents supported me 100% with my decision

WPA: what are they getting in player like you?

Gianni: hey are getting a player who wants to win and wants to compete a player who wasn’t recruited by their hometown FBS school so i got a chip on my shoulder to reach my max potential

WPA: what position will you play?

Gianni: OLB 

WPA: why commit early?

Gianni: Commit so early so I didn’t lose a spot to another kid and I wanted to focus on my senior season and my team

WPA: Do you know what you’d like to study?

Gianni: Supply chain management

WPA: What do you think is the most exciting thing about YSU University?

Gianni: The winning tradition and the way campus is improving

WPA: How will this affect your play for your senior season?

Gianni: It’s gunna make me play harder to prove that I belong there
