They were at the South Fayette 40 yard line it was third and one, They ended up going for it on fourth down and couldn’t convert, turning the ball over on downs, and giving the ball to South Fayette.
On South Fayette’s first drive they were also putting together a nice drive. They were around the Blackhawk 40 and after a run by Andrew Franklin, Jamie Diven threw an interception. On the first play of that South Fayette drive, Jamie Diven connected with Mike Trimbur for a 47 yard touchdown to make it 7-0 South Fayette with 5:24 in the third quarter. “We were able to capitalize on turnovers” said coach Rossi. 7-0 would be the score at the end of three.
In the fourth quarter South Fayette ultimately pulled away. They made it 14-0 after Blackhawk fumbled the ball. They were set up at the Blackhawk 41 yard line. After 2 runs by Andrew Franklin, Diven again connected with Dan Trimbur this time for 36 yards. “We bent a couple times but didn’t break, they played physical and played hard” said coach Rossi of his defense.
Blackhawk got the ball back in a drive that they had to have points, but got no where near to scoring. They ended up going for it on fourth down deep in their own territory but tuned the ball over on downs. That set up the third and final touchdown on a 4 yard run by Andrew Franklin. That made the final score 21-0.
