9:30-At the half Woodland Hills leads over Gateway 10-0. Could Gateway come away with nothing for a third time?

8:30-Welcome back football fans, the final game of the day pins Woodland Hills vs. Gateway in a AAAA showdown. Gateway fumbles opening kickoff (second year in a row thats happend) and Woody puts a field goal on the board. Gateway fumbles on a run play, thats rec. by Woodland Hills…but Woody high turn the ball over on downs. 1st down gateway 2:31 in the first.

7:44-Pass in the air, and knocked down in the endzone. BALL GAME. West Allgheny-36  Hopewell-28. Final. Wow, I can’t pick games this year to save my life. The Mike Caputo’s are going to the quarterfinals. 4 of the 5 TD’s.

7:42-Here we go again. 4th down and long. For the game.

7:38-For those of you just waking up from Thanksgiving dinner, that answer is Rushel Shell. Gains 4, 1st down.

7:37-For the ball game. 4th and 1. who gets the ball?

7:32-Hopewell defense holds or 3 and 5 forces West-A to punt. Hopewll needs 8 to compleat one of the best combacks since Gatway came back vs. Central Catholic in 2007. Here we go.

7:23-Well in just two short mintues we got our answer. Shell from 68-yards, for 6. We have a ball game. 36-28.

7:21-Hopewell fumbled after putting together a great drive. The Vikings held West-A, and forced a punt. Now down two scores with 10:30 to play the question is can Hopewell come back? Lets find out.

7:07-Caputo is out with his cleat off, not sure what happend or if he is hurt. Will see. 1st down hopewell.

7:04-Ahh, man this food is amazing. So is this football game. Caupto sets up a TD, and the first he didn’t score him-self. After Hopewell came back down 3 scores…and cut the lead to 7, west-a answers and its a two score ball game once again. 36-21.

6:22-What a first half. As the clock ticked down to the half, Shell punches it in from 5-yards out with no time left in the half, it was by all means a must score. Cuts the lead to 22-14. Halftime, Hopewell to get the ball at the start of the third.

6:16-Mike Caputo is taking over…another TD. 29-7 West Allegheny.

5:53-Mike strikes back, 29-yards out. Score now Caputo’s-22  Shell’s-7.

4:32-The game everyone has been looking forward to. Mike Caputo vs. Rushel Shell….I mean West Allegheny vs. Hopewell.

4:00-Well GCC shocks the defending champs 33-7.

3:41- A blow out in class-AA, as GCC is taking it two the defending champs. Leading 33-7. Muzzy is gona get his title. Fact- David Miller is the most under rated running back in the WPIAL.

3:15- Just under eight mintues to go, Qiups with the ball and driving. This is a must score for Aliquippa down 26-7.

3:09- Turnovers are killing the Quips. Another one here in the 3rd as GCC seeing gold.

2:26- How about GCC?  Trent Hurley on the QB keeper, makes it 20-7 over the Quips. Aliquippa is making to many mistakes. Lets not count out the Quips yet, remember their come back in the quarter finals over South Fayette?

1:59- Well that didn’t take long, David Miller answers on a 79-yard run for GCC. 7-7. 3:27 left in 1st.

11:06am- Clairton fumbles at the Rochester 7-yard line, keeping the game scoreless. Rochester has a 3rd down and ten from their own 5. 9:30 to go in first half.

11:00am- Scoreless in the Single-A Championship Game. It’s be a back and forth contest, Rochester turned the ball over after putting together the best drive of the game. This one is not a shocker, I doubt this game gets out of the teens, if that.

10:17am (Friday) – Good morning high school football fans. It was once again a blast getting into the WPIAL Championships, however thanks to the great folks at the WPIAL for giving me an all access pass. Let’s get on with the games, up first is the class A showdown between Rochester and Clairton. Weather today in the pittsburgh area not the greatest, I am sure many will say “Why go out in the cold, lets stay home eat leftovers and watch the games on FSN.

-7:07pm (Thursday) – Twas the night before the WPIAL Championships, well I am stuffed. Okay, so it’s not the most poetic thing I written, but I am sure I am not the only one on this Thanksgiving, which I hope all of you enjoyed. Tomorrow check back all day long for a live blog from the home of the defending Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers, and soon to be Big East Champion Pittsburgh Panthers, Heinz Field. One of my favorite things to cover is the WPIAL Championship, four games in one day is a lot, but it never disappoints. I’ll have my blog starting early tomorrow morning and going to the final quarter of the AAAA game. Best of luck to all eight teams.
