Central Catholic RB Damion Jones-Moore issues oral declaration to Toledo

Written by: on Monday, October 10th, 2011

A fourth senior from Pittsburgh Central Catholic has issued an oral declaration to continue his football career at a Division-1 FBS (bowl subdivision) program.

Damion Jones-Moore, a 5’7, 175-pound feature running back for the Vikings, has issued an oral declaration to Toledo, a Mid American Conference program, according to national recruiting services and and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Toledo was one of three programs to offer the Central Catholic back a scholarship – Ohio and 1-AA representative Youngstown State were the others. Cincinnati, Michigan, Penn State, Pitt and West Virginia had shown interest, but not extended a scholarship offer.

Jones-Moore joins quarterback Perry Hills (Maryland), receiver-defensive back Anthony Nixon (Maryland) and defensive back Juwan Haynes (Toledo) as Central Catholic Division-1 football recruits. Offensive lineman Logan Dietz and linebacker Louis Taglianetti are also potential Division-1 prospects on the Vikings’ 2011 team.

Through the first five weeks of his senior season, Jones-Moore has run for 748 yards and scored 14 total touchdowns (12 rushing, two receiving). He entered Week 6 with more than 3,800 career rushing yards and more than likely will become the second career 4,000-yard rusher in school history, joining Eugene Jarvis (4,375 yards). Jones-Moore ran for more than 1,000 yards in each of his sophomore and junior seasons and scored 37 rushing touchdowns between those two seasons.

Central Catholic is unblemished through six weeks of the 2011 season and has already garnered attention in several national polls, including the Rivals High 100, the USA-Today Super 25 and east regional rankings and the National Prep Poll. The Vikings are Pennsylvania’s consensus #1-ranked AAAA football team.
