*North East gave up on average 24 points per game in 2015

*Key offensive and defensive stats for returning starters were listed previously on this preview.

2016 Offensive outlook: (Please let us know the keys about your team on offense. What are your keys to having a successful year?)

North East returns 7 offensive starters including 5 linemen and 2 running backs. In order to be successful, NE must move the ball consistently on the ground with up to 5 different ball carriers and throw off of the run out the I-formation and the jet-spread formation. Another key would be limiting turnovers.

2016 Defensive Outlook: (Please let us know the keys about your team on defense. What are your keys to having a successful year?)

North East returns 7 defensive starters but gave up 24 points per game in 2015. Not giving up big plays, increasing the number of “3 and outs”, and creating turnovers will be keys to defensive success for the Pickers in 2016.

2016 Special Teams Outlook: (Please let us know the keys about your team on special teams. What are your keys to having a successful year?)

Kickoff and punt coverage are paramount to success along with defending against opponents short and onside kicking games. Finding a new punter and the continuing development of returning place kicker, Dylan Garske are keys to success for NE in 2016.

  1. Mike S says:

Garrett Owens was a tremendous player. I’m led to believe he was “underaged” as a senior. He should truly reach potential in college.

But the Grapepickers will be okay this fall.
