2017 WesternPAFootball.net Rankings: Week 8

Written by: on Thursday, October 19th, 2017

Here we are, week 8 and the playoffs are looming!  There were very few changes, let’s highlight them and move on to the rankings. WPARANKINGS

No changes for 6A, everybody won. Big game here is Mt. Lebo at Penn Hills

5A saw a big change as McKeesport took down #2 USC and is inching their way back to their preseason top spot.  Grove City at Meadville should be interesting but it’s McKeesport at Gateway with the top billing.

4A saw a big battle with BVA taking down #2 TJ. Johnstown has a task, end “the streak”. BVA has another good game this week. And our big surprise Bellefonte travels to the Ridge.

3A saw no changes but will this week as #4 QV takes on the #5 Rebels.

2A hasn’t changed in weeks, and we don’t expect any changes this week.

1A also remains the same with exception of OLSH jumping in the Honorable Mention category. BG has the big one here.

On to the rankings!

  1. Billy Splain says:

    2 losses

  2. Jeff says:

West A ranked ahead of Upper St. Clair even though USC beat them 2 weeks ago? Granted it was a 1pt win in OT, and only because Bob Palko decided to go for 2 and the win instead of play for a 2nd OT, but a win is a win, especially on the road.

I would have ranked McKeesport and Gateway ahead of GC, would have them 4th and USC 5th.

Tonight’s GC game vs. Meadville will tell a lot as to whether they have a realistic chance against the WPIAL winner, if they win by a couple of scores like they are capable then they may have a chance, on the other hand if they lose I don’t give them much of a shot.
