Quaker Valley couldn’t get much going in the quarter and the score at the end of 1 was 8-0 Quips.
Quaker Valley locked down on defense for the most part in the second quarter but early on in the quarter Aliquippa extended the lead to 14-0 on a second run by McKenzie this time from 6 yards out.
Aliquippa’s shut out streak was still alive to begin the third quarter. But that didn’t last long. On Quaker Valley’s first drive they ended Aliquippa’s streak of not allowing an offensive touchdown this season.
The touchdown was a 28 yard pass from Ricky Guss to Isaiah McNair with 9:47 still left in the third quarter. Quaker Valley held Aliquippa to a 3 and out on the following and the Quakers got the ball back in Aliquippa territory. The drive didn’t result in any points however.
After the Quaker Valley touchdown, the Quips locked down on defense. The score at the end of 3 remained 14-7 in favor of the Quips.
About midway through the final quarter. Aliquippa struck like lightning on a huge pass play that ultimately put the game out of reach. It was a 42 yard pass from Will Gipson to MJ Devonshire to make it 22-7. That would be the final score.
Avante McKenzie had 97 yards on 17 carries and had the 2 first half touchdowns. Ricky Guss had about 190 yards of combined offense. 130 of which were passing.
Next week Quaker Valley has another big time game against the Allegheny Conference Champ Seton LaSalle. Aliquippa will host arch rival Central Valley next week at the pit.
