Big School Team # 2 Gateway (7) 0-0

Written by: on Thursday, August 30th, 2012

The Gators are a team that could do serious damage come November/December. Plenty of experience is back from a team which finished 9-3 and narrowly lost to eventual WPIAL champion North Allegheny. Quarterback Thomas Woodson is a career 2,500-yard passer and Arizona recruit.

Jaymar Parrish, the team’s featured receiver last season and one of the top returning tacklers on defense, is a Pitt recruit. Montae Nicholson, Ricky Rodgers and Brenon Thrift also have Division-1 scholarship offers, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Terry Smith’s 2012 team. Of course, the Gators will more than likely have the added chip on its shoulder of playing for coach Smith, who could be in his final season as football coach after the Gateway school board approved a measure barring administrators from holding supplemental contracts as coaches (Smith is Gateway’s athletic director).
