Key Stats: – John Croft returns at MLB after leading the team in total tackles (100) last year as a sophomore
– Justin Bezek enters his third year as a starting quarterback and will look to surpass the 1000-yard passing mark for a third time in his career
– Luke Bennett returns to lead a deep receiving corps after finishing 5th in the conference in receiving yards (483) last season as a junior

2017 Offensive Outlook: Playmaking experience on both the line and in the backfield should allow the offense to play solid complementary football with both the run and pass game. A multiple attack will be used. Six players who started games on the offensive line will return from what was a young group last year, and will look to protect a 3-year starting quarterback and pave the way for a solid crew of athletes on the edges. Winning the line of scrimmage will be the foundation for the Devils’ success; making consistent plays on the outside could make the offense special.

2017 Defensive Outlook: A bounty of experience on the defensive line and in the defensive backfield could help the Devils establish a formidable defensive identity this season. CC’s 2016 Team Defensive MVP Nick Knopp returns for his junior season in his OLB/SS position. Fully solidifying the linebacking corps around Knopp and Croft could result in the stingiest Red Devil defense since 2013, the last time CC made the postseason.

2017 Special Teams Outlook: Returning experience and depth in the both the kicking and return games should help “gain the extra offensive play” and win the field position battle.
