After a 2 year drought for Clairton they returned to the Single A championship, the last time they played at Heinz Field was in 2015. With the 41-13 victory over Sto-Rox today they have now won their last 9 games played at Heinz Field. “Its great, and with that tradition we look to come back every year, that’s kind of the expectation, so to be here we wanna get here to win, we don’t wanna get here and lose. said Coach Wade.
Sto-Rox won the coin toss and deferred so Clairton got the ball first. Clairton took advantage of that when Brendan Parsons connected with Kenlein Ogletree for a 22 yard touchdown making it 7-0. The drive lasted nearly 4 minutes and it took 9 plays. On the first Sto-Rox drive, they connected a pass deep down the field, but unfortunately the drive stalled after that and they punted it.
Late in the first quarter Clairton extended their lead to 14-0 when Parsons again found Ogletree this time for a 22 yard touchdown. Parsons and Ogletree both played a big role in the win. Parsons was 8 of 14 for 201 yards and had 4 touchdowns and he also had 112 yards rushing. Ogletree had 3 catches all of which were touchdowns and had 112 yards. “I think we both did pretty good, you know Kenlein he’s a really good receiver, and I think every time I throw him the ball, I think he’ll really come down with it. said Parsons.
Sto-Rox got the ball and a mistake cost them on a juggling interception which was returned 69 yards for a touchdown by Dontae Sanders.. “I got the ball and just started running” said Sanders. Sto-Rox would finally get on the board when Eric Wilson connected with Jaidon Berry for a 21 yard touchdown. That made the score 21-7.
Clairton answered right back on the next drive when Dontae Sanders ran it in for a 35 yard touchdown. “I think kind of our adversity for the year kind of prepared us for that” said Coach Wade. Sto-Rox had their opportunities to get closer but couldn’t do it. The score at half was 28-7 Clairton.
In the second half Sto-Rox got the score closer when Eric Wilson connected with Amhad Pack for a 70 yard touchdown. But again after that score Clairton came up with another very timely response Parsons connected with Wayne Wade III for a 42 yard touchdown pass.
Sto-Rox couldn’t get anything going on offense. Clairton added another score when Parsons found Ogletree for the third time this one a 69 yard touchdown. Sto-Rox added one more score before the game ended to make the final 41-19 Clairton.
Wilson was 12 of 41 for 266 yards and 3 touchdowns, Ahmad Pack caught 2 of those touchdowns and had 6 catches overall for 152 yards. Clairton next week has a bye and will play an opponent to be determined.
