Jackson Daugherty set a school record with 6 touchdowns and the Ligonier Valley defense extended its shutout streak to 5 straight games leading the Rams to a 42-0 win at West Shamokin. With the win the Rams improved their record to 6-0. Daugherty scored 3 times on the ground on runs of 9, 12 and 74 yards and caught touchdown passes of 33 and 76 yards. And, just for good measure, he added a 15 yard touchdown pass to Aaron Tutino.
The Rams scored twice in the first quarter, once in the second quarter, twice in the third and once in the fourth. Peter Stoll chipped in with 4 extra point kicks and Aaron Sheeder chipped in with a 2 point conversion run. The Rams defense dominated again this week allowing only 37 yards of offense and just 2 first downs.
Aaron Sheeder ended the Wolves only real scoring threat with an interception and also contributed 6 tackles. Joey Dubics led with 7 tackles including 2 tackles for loss and a sack. Jake Neiderheiser added 4 tackles and teamed with Mike Petrof and Michael McVicker to clog the inside running lanes. Daugherty was the Rams leading rusher with 167 yards on 13 carries. John Caldwell went 5 for 9 for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns as the team’s leading passer. Aaron Tutino finished with 7 catches for 133 yards and a touchdown.
The Rams will meet the conference’s other unbeaten team, Homer Center, Friday at 7 in Homer City. West Shamokin will try to improve on their 3-3 record with their visit to 1-5 Saltsburg.
