District 9 Game of the Week: Redbank Valley at Smethport

Ridgway made it 2-2 on the season when part of the Times Observer Game of the Week with a 20-7 win over Brockway last week.
The Elkers continued their impressive season by outplaying the previously unbeaten Rovers in a defensive showdown. Ridgway outgained its hosts 237-189 and outrushed them 166-95. Matt Dush led the way for the Elkers. He rushed 11 times for 56 yards and a touchdown. He also had a 43-yard punt return for a score.
The win narrowed the top of the Large School division standings. Ridgway and Clarion are tied for first at 5-0. The two will meet Oct. 5 in Clarion, with the winner in the driver’s seat for the division crown.
This week’s matchup features a pair of teams that could meet for the Small School crown.
DISTRICT 9 GAME OF THE WEEK: REDBANK VALLEY (4-1) at SMETHPORT (5-0)
The Bulldogs and Hubbers were two of the preseason favorites in the Small School South and North divisions, respectively. Both have shown why so far this season with Smethport unbeaten, and RBV picking up its first loss last week against Clarion-Limestone.
