Sawyer Drummond accounted for 241 yards of total offense a four touchdowns while also adding an interception on defense as Otto-Eldred had their way with Sheffield 40-6 Saturday afternoon a-top Wolverine Mountain.
Drummond threw for 110 yards and three scores in the first half helping the Terrors build a 28-0 halftime lead.
Otto started slow being forced to punt on it’s inital drive following a three-and-out, but proceeded to score touchdowns on their next six possessions en-route to the victory.
“We got off to a little bit of a slow start again, once we got rolling, we hit a couple passes because they were loading the box on us,” said Otto-Eldred head coach Nick LaBella.
Dylan Close started the scoring by finding the endzone for the first of two times in the first half hauling in a 51-yard pass from Drummond that put Otto in front 8-0 with 3:12 left in the first quarter.
“Sawyer and Dylan really started to heat up for us. We were fortunate to be getting some man-to-man looks and he’s got good receivers to throw to as well,” added LaBella.
Close then capped a 5-play 69-yard drive as he ran an end-around 45 yards to the endzone.
Drummond then connected with Nick York and Gage Babcock on nine and 11-yard touchdown passes finishing off 60 and 52-yard drives that left the Terrors one touchdown shy of the mercy-rule at the half.
The Wolverines were able to move the ball inside the Otto 40-yard line twice and penitrated as deep as their 21, but couldn’t overcome interceptions by Drummond and Cole Sebastian.
Otto-Eldred then put a stamp on the game as Sebastian hauled in a 22-yard pass from Drummond and Babcock scored from five yards out that started the running clock with 3:08 remaining in the third quarter.
Following a fumble recovery at midfield Sheffield was finnally able to crack the scoreboard as Josh Agudio hauled in a short pass from Cale Albaugh an outraced the Terrors defense for the Wolverines lone score of the game.
Agudio ran for a game-high 147 yards and 297 in total offense with the reception to lead Sheffield.
“We’re just looking at Cameron County next Friday and taking it one game at a time. We got a little banged up today, Sheffield is very physical and they play hard. We need to heal up this week so we can be ready for Friday night,” said LaBella
