One of the rising juniors returning from Erie Cathedral Prep’s PIAA AAA semifinalist team a season ago is starting to receive Division-1 attention.
Damion Terry, a 6’4, 210-pound junior quarterback for the two-time defending District 10 AAA champion Ramblers, has received interest, but no verbal offers, from 16 Division-1 football programs, according to national recruiting service Rivals.com.
Interested parties in the Cathedral Prep field general include Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin.
Terry had a solid sophomore season in his first year at the helm of Cathedral Prep’s spread offensive attack which averaged 293.9 yards (166.8 rush, 127.1 pass) and 34.1 points per game, connecting on 99-of-191 passes (51.8 percent) for 1,780 yards and 19 touchdowns and adding 555 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 108 rushes, averaging 5.2 yards per carry. He threw for 100+ yards in nine of the Ramblers’ 14 games (including three games with 200+ yards) and ran for 100+ yards once.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, Terry is on pace to throw for more than 5,600 yards in his career, which would rank him second all-time in District 10 history, trailing only former Oil City Area field general Mark Kulinski (6,040 yards, 2008-2010).
Cathedral Prep finished 9-5 last season, reaching the PIAA AAA semifinals opposite Bishop McDevitt.
