The Erie Royals have been playing homecoming spoilers all season long. This week was a different story. The Royals were not going to let the away team spoil the schools first homecoming game.

The Brashear Bulls came into the game with a 4-3 record and on a two game win streak. They rely heavily on there passing attack and Erie has given up some yards through the air the past couple weeks.

Tonight though was a different story. The defense was lockdown. Holding Brashear to just 42 yards of offense. Not only did the secondary step up, the D-line and linebackers dominated as well. Brashear was held to -21 yards rushing on 11 carries.

Jerome Henderson and Jamar Hudson had sacks, while junior safety Barry Thompson pulled down an interception. Thompson leads district 10 with 5 interceptions so far this season.

As for the Royals “Four Horsemen”, JaGannon Williams led the way with 173 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns. Williams now has 809 yards, on just 78 carries, this season.

Senior quarterback Jason Williams had three rushing touchdowns in the first half, helping Erie dash out to a 28-9 lead by halftime. Williams would finish with 70 yards on 15 carries.

Junior Tony Foster continued to excel and close in on a 1000 yards rushing for the season. He finished with 122 yards on 14 carries to bring his season total 886. Foster is averaging a ridiculous 13 yards per carry on the season thus far.

The youngest member of Erie’s devastating single wing attack is sophomore Danny Blue. Blue ran the ball ten times for 102 yards and a touchdown. The sophomore has been battling nagging injuries this season but seems to be healthy and primed to stay on track.

Senior defensive standout Arlan Pulliam also got into the end zone on offense tonight.

The Royals finished with 555 yards rushing and 570 yards of total offense.

The 6-2 Royals will travel to Ashtubula, Ohio next week to take on Lakeside High School (4-3).
