Adam Cecere accounted for 370 yards of total offense and had a hand in all four Rangers touchdowns as Forest Hills secured a home playoff game with a 28-14 win over Westmont Hilltop Saturday afternoon.
“Overall all we played very well, Westmont is a very good football team,” said Forest Hills head coach Don Bailey. “They run a double-wing offense which is very difficult to defend. I was very pleased with the way we handled it. They’re an excellent football team.”
Forest Hills led 12-0 after a quarter but found itself trailing 14-12 at halftime.
Cecere scored on runs of five and nine yards on the Rangers first two possessions of the game just eight minutes into the game.
Westmont got their legs going (literally) in the second quarter thanks to Camden Moors as he over Rangers defenders scoring on runs of four and two yards.
Before his second touchdown, Moors had a highlight reel 38-yard gain.

The Hilltoppers had a chance to extend their lead in between their two scores, but quarterback Lee Santee was intercepted in the end zone by Jake Shope.
“The kids battled hard, but you can’t beat yourself with penalties and missed blocks,” said Westmont Hilltop head coach Pat Barron. “I was proud of the kid’s effort, but we can’t have self-inflicted wounds.”
Westmont was able to score before the half as Moors pounded it in from two yards. He had 118 yards rushing in the first half, but was limited to just 23 in the second.
“That’s a frustrating offense to play against because you know what play is coming, but they’re so good at it,” said Cecere. “It was just the grit and heart of the team. We gave up that touchdown at the end of the half – then shut them out from there. It was just the will of the team because we wanted to play at home for the playoffs.”
Forest Hills took control from there, scoring two touchdowns and pitching a second-half shutout.
“We made adjustments on defense in the second half,” said Bailey. “Their tight ends were getting downfield and blocking our linebackers. We were not getting any help outside. We moved our safeties up to help with run support.”
Cecere scored on a 12-yard run with 3:41 remaining in the third quarter and later hit Jake Delic on a 28-yard touchdown pass that sealed the win with just under three minutes to play.

“When you have the run game established the way we did, obviously it opens up the pass more,” said Cecere. “I have playmakers on the outside, and I always have. It’s just a matter of getting them the ball to them.”
“When you have a guy Adam (Cecere), you want to put the ball in his hands as much as you can,” said Bailey. He can throw, run and play outstanding defense. He had a great game today on both sides of the ball.”
Both teams will be back in action next week as Westmont travels to Cambria Heights – while Forest Hills plays host to Penn Cambria.
“We’ve got another tough game coming up with Penn Cambria, who is a physical team,” said Bailey. “We have to refine a few mistakes and continue to get better.”
“We have a tough test with Cambria Heights next week, and we’re focused n taking care of business there first,” said Barron. “It’s a credit to them. They were just better than us today.”
