Greensburg Central Catholic S/RB/KR Zach Guiser issues verbal declaration to Akron

One of Greensburg Central Catholic’s top two-way presences will continue his collegiate football career in the Mid-American Conference.

Zach Guiser, a 6’1, 190-pound safety/running back/return specialist for the Centurions, issued a verbal declaration to Akron Monday, according to national recruiting services and

In addition to the Zips, Guiser held four other FBS/FCS offers, including Buffalo, Delaware, Kent State and Temple.

Guiser, who will be a four-year varsity starter in the fall for Greensburg Central Catholic, was a key presence for the WPIAL AA semifinalists at his safety position, where he posted 85 tackles, two interceptions and 12 pass deflections in 12 games.  He was also the team’s No. 2 rusher in an offense which averaged more than 200 yards per game on the ground, posting 599 yards on 60 carries and scoring nine total touchdowns.

The Centurions finished 10-2 overall in 2011, and, since the start of the 2003 season, have won 92 of their 115 games played (.876).
