Johnson Motors presents: PROTIME PREDICTIONS by Phil

Written by: on Thursday, September 27th, 2018

Last November Protime noticed a couple of small holes dug in his back yard, but thought nothing more of it until springtime when the holes were bigger and there were so many it looked as though little tiny people were having some sort of war on his meticulous lawn.  It turned out the felon was a real stinker, a skunk.  Protime scratched his head and figured the best way to rid himself of the critter was to purchase and set a trap.

Little did Protime know that a literal zoo existed at night in his yard.  He caught a possum, a cat, a fox, a porcupine, 4 chipmunks, 2 birds, and a turtle.  But no skunk even as his lawn deteriorated into dirt and dead sod from this nocturnal nuisance.  Finally, after Protime disguised the trap to look like a miniature cave and baiting the ensnarement with his favorite brand of potato chips, the midnight culprit was caught!  Protime hopes it’ll be awhile before the next skunk comes along.  What an ordeal!

Protime’s current ordeal is endeavoring to pick this week’s winners.  Last week, the Wizard of Wisdom went 21-4 and now sits at 100-25 (.800) for the season.  Here are the prognostications.  (Follow Protime on twitter @PbmSr)

Shade 5-0 @ Conemaugh Township 5-0 – This is Protime’s game of the week!!  It should be a doozy.  QB Brady Fyfe leads the Panthers into Davidsville.  Mr. Fyfe is a magician on offense.  He’s thrown for 1,374 yards and 19 TDs and rushed for 760 yards and 8 more scores.  WR Dawson Snyder has pulled in 30 passes for 461 yards and 7 touchdowns.  Austin Mauger (73) and Vince Fyock (61) are the top two tacklers for Shade’s defense.  The Indians counter with a quarterback that possesses a 152.6 QB rating in Jordan Poznanski.  He has rushed for 812 yards and 9 TDs.  Fullback Cory Myers has scored 13 touchdowns and is the leading receiver too.  Myers, along with Seth Rosey and Tommy Shaffer are Township’s dominate tacklers.  The crystal ball says overtime, maybe even double overtime before Conemaugh Twp. is victorious 42-41.

Bellefonte 5-0 @ Clearfield 5-0 – Invading Bisonland are the Red Raiders this week hoping to take down the shaggy oxen.  Get there early as a big crowd is expected.  QB Kyle Myers and RB CJ Funk headlines an awesome Bellefonte offense.  Funk has carried the ball for 717 yards and 10 scores.  Chris Persiko has booted 4 FGs and is 19 of 20 on PATs.  Ethan Rossman leads the team in tackles.  On the Clearfield side, signal-caller Isaac Rumery has pitched the pigskin for 1,028 yards and 9 TDs.  WR Jake Lezzer has 26 snags for 636 yards and 6 scores.  RB Caleb Freeland has motored for 11 touchdowns.  Kicker Zach Hess has made 29 of his 30 point after attempts and Oliver Billotte is the man on defense.  In a close one, it’ll be the Bison of Clearfield toppling the Red Raiders by three, 27-24.

Derry 5-0 @ Elizabeth-Forward 4-0 – Within the contest of unbeatens is a friendly rivalry between running backs.  Derry Trojan, Justin Flack has found the end zone 12 times (9 in the past two weeks).  And E-F Warrior, Zachary Benedek has 7 goal line crossings to his credit.  Protime learned his lesson last week and will not pick against Derry this time.  In a real battle, the Trojans of Derry 28 defeat the Warriors of Elizabeth-Forward 22.

Pittsburgh Central Catholic 4-1 @ Pine-Richland 4-1 – When the Vikings invade Gibsonia, they will do so behind the arm of QB Dom Pieto, the feet of RB Eddy Tillman, and the hands of a talented wide receiver in the person of Gavin Thomson.  Soph. Cole Spencer is the new QB this year for the defending state champs.  He has 597 yards and 7 TDs passing plus 4 more rushing tallies.  K Mason Pruhs is perfect on extra points.  Anthony Cerminara and Tyler King are two reliable assets on the Ram ‘D’.  Protime predicts Pine-Richland 31 and PCC 24.

North Hills 4-1 @ Gateway 5-0 – Tyler Brennan makes the North Hills offense run as he has rushed for 466 yards and 13 TDs.  The Gators found Brady Walker’s replacement in QB Brendan Majocha (867 yards & 14 TDs passing).  His favorite mark is WR Courtney Jackson.  RB Derrick Davis is tough to bring down.  He has 562 yards and 10 TDs.  The Indians of North Hills lost their first last week and will lose their second this week.  Gators 35 Indians 23.

Redbank Valley 4-1 @ Smethport 5-0 – RBV’s QB is dangerous.  Keaton Kahle has 624 yards passing and another 324 running.  He’s accounted for 9 TDs so far this year.  A pair of Hunters solidify the Bulldog ‘D’ in Hunter Wiles and Hunter Buzard.  Big Blake Kinner is a load in the backfield for the Hubbers.  He has over 500 yards rushing and scored 9 total touchdowns.  Mr. Kinner shines on the Smethport defense too.  Protime flipped a coin for this match-up.   Smethport wins 22-21.

Tyrone 4-1 @ Bald Eagle Area 5-0 – It’s bird night in Wingate as the Golden Eagles fly into Wingate to take on the Bald Eagles in a real aerial tussle.  QB Denver Light has 659 yards passing with 8 TDs for Tyrone and Jaden Jones has 1,405 yards with 17 TDs for BEA.  Golden Eagle Zac Albright has 497 yards and 4 TDs on the ground, while Jones has 6 rushing touchdowns for the home team.  Light is the top tackle guy for Tyrone’s defense as is Kael Gardner for Bald Eagle.  Tommy Snyder chips in 5 sacks for the Bald Eagles.  Sorry Uncle Ken, but Protime has BEA, 36-31.

Seneca Valley 4-1 @ North Allegheny 5-0 – Gabe Lawson (SV) threw 2 TD passes last week and Matt Stanger ran for 2 more.  Kicker Seth Winters has made 16 extra points and nailed 4 field goals to date for the Raiders.  North Allegheny’s ground game is led by Ben Maenza (619 yards/11 TDs).  K Isaac West is 24 of 24 in the PAT department and also has made 4 FGs.  Amosis Porter is a key Tiger on defense.  Protime has the Tigers by nine, 24-15.

Fort LeBoeuf 4-1 @ General McLane 3-2 – The Bison come trotting to town looking for win #5.  Both teams have a strong running game.  Ft. LeBoeuf has Tynan Mazur with his 485 yards and 8 scores, while Ben Turi adds another 7 TDs to the team total.  The Lancers counter with Ben Howe-Jones’ 597 yards and 5 TDs plus Luke Dillan’s 4 tallies.  Billy Jukes is McLane’s top tackler on defense.  Protime envisions a nip and tuck game to the end when McLane squeaks out a 27-25 triumph.

Oil City 4-1 @ Warren 3-2 – Christian Cole spearheads the Oil City Oiler attack with his 1,398 yards rushing and 19 touchdowns in 5 games!  Cole and Brayden Crocker lead the defense in tackles, while Demarco Francis has 6 sacks.  The Dragons are led offensively by their QB Jake Kupchella and his 1,322 yards throwing the ball.  His receivers have 9 TD catches.  RB Marvin Bryant has skedaddled for 539 yards and 9 scores.  Aiden Morrison has an amazing 74 tackles thus far.  Protime believes Oil City will prevail 49-42.

Charleroi 4-0 @ Bethlehem-Center 4-1 – This game will be fought like real cats and dogs duking it out for bragging rights.  Charleroi’s Cougars are led by RB Brayden Milhalcin and his 10 touchdowns.  Beth-Center’s Bulldogs are led by RB Bailey Lincoski’s 9 TDs and WR JJ Green.  Protime gazed into his crystal ball while listening to Styx to soothe his mind.  It revealed that Charleroi will be the victor, 31-21.

Blacklick Valley 1-4 @ Conemaugh Valley 2-3 – Actually, sports fans, this will be a close and possibly a classic contest.  In fact, Protime just may be in attendance.  The invading Vikings may be without the services of two players, but it remains to be seen.  That said, Corey Simmons has tossed the pigskin for over 700 yards and 6 touchdowns.  WR Jude Gdula has 4 TD grabs for Blacklick.  Blue Jay quarterback Bryce McCleester runs pretty well as he has 355 yards and 6 scores.  He heads up the Blue Jay defense too.  Justin McKenzie is the go to wide receiver.  In the end, Protime predicts Conemaugh Valley to win, 18-12.

The Others:

Clarion 31 Kane 7 – The Bobcats best the Wolves to go to 6-0 and therefore have a very important meeting with Ridgway next week.

Ridgway 26 Punxsutawney 6 – The Elkers ground the Chucks to go to 6-0 and as a result set up a very important meeting with Clarion next week.

Chestnut Ridge 28 Central Cambria 12 – The Lions roar and the Red Devils sulk as ‘Ridge’ remains unblemished.

Washington 40 Frazier 20 – The Little Prexies pummel the Commodores to the extent that Protime remembers Howard Cosell’s famous line in the Foreman fight, “down goes Frazier, down goes Frazier, down goes Frazier!”

South Fayette 34 Blackhawk 24 – Great game sees the Lions scratch out a victory over the previously undefeated Cougars.

Grove City 28 Hickory 14 – AAA may serve Grove City well this year.  Only time will tell.  Meanwhile, the Eagles soar over the Hornets.

Slippery Rock 24 Titusville 19 – Boy oh boy, the battle of the Rockets.  Sparks will fly and there will be red glares.  But only Protime, not rocket science, can predict the winner.

Bishop Guilfoyle 31 Penn Cambria 20 – Coach Franco is turning around the program at PC, but the night belongs to the Marauders not the Panthers.

Windber 38 Meyersdale 33 – This should be a good one with the Ramblers out maneuvering the Red Raiders.

Coudersport 30 Curwensville 24 – Protime is going to go with the Falcons in this important D-9 showdown with the Golden Tide.

Steel Valley 38 South Allegheny 24 – The Gladiators are having a good year, but the Ironmen are too strong for SA.

Southern Huntingdon 20 Glendale 8 – The Rockets rebound from a tough loss last week to repulse the Vikings.

Tussey Mountain 32 Juniata Valley 28 – The Titans go to 6-0, but they nearly get stung by the Hornets.
