The Juniata Indians used 7 Bald Eagle turnovers to their advantage last night in Mifflintown to a 41-19 win at a rain soaked Dietrich Field in Mifflintown. The game got out of hand quickly for the BEA Eagles. After Indian quarterback jeremiah Parson scored from the one to make it 7-0 after the kick, BEA

quarterback Jaden Jones made the first mistake of the night for the Eagles throwing an interception from the 30 yard line on the sixth Eagle play of the game. From there Parson drove the Indians to the 19 where

Ben Lauver hauled in his first of two tds on the night to make it 14-0 with 33 seconds left in the first quarter.

“Unfortunately, we cut ourselves short, we could have played a lot better against them, especially in that first half. Turnovers — they hurt us all season” ” Bald Eagle head coach Jesse Nagle said. ” His squad fought back at times and to their credit, I don’t think they ever gave up. On the following series, Jones caught fire and passed his team straight to the endzone with with hitting throws. Junior running back Blake Roberts finished the drive with this 3 yard run to make it 14-7 with 9:35 left in the first half:

But then the wheels came off as the rain began to pour. The Eagle defense held Juniata to a 3 and out, but on the punt the Eagle receiver couldn’t get a handle on the ball and Juniata recovered at the Eagle 25. It took just 3 plays for RJ Becker to get the first of his 2 scores, this one a 22 yard run making it 21-7. Juniata added 2 more scores, a 7 yard pass from Parson to Lauver and a 25 yard run from Parson straight up the gut.  BEA scored one more time before the half ended on  another Roberts carry. Blake finished the night with  81 yards on 15 carries.

The second half was more of a battle, with both teams going back and forth without finding the endzone.  However, in one of the more bizarre events I’ve seen this year, as Juniata drove 89 yards to the BEA one yard line. The Indians fumbled the ball away, but on the next play BEA fumbled the ball and Juniata recovered. Determined to score, the Indians snapped the ball and, you guessed it, the ball was fumbled again. This time RJ Becker landed on the ball for the score.

With just under 8 minutes left, Jones found Turner for a 14 yard score. Once again, the point after failed leaving it 41-13.

Juniata will get a rematch with Huntingdon, a team they lost to earlier in the season.
