North Allegheny dominates Central Catholic 27-3

North Allegheny had the ball on the fifth drive. On the first play Ben Maenza busted a big 79 yard run down to the Central Catholic 20 yard line. A few plays later he would score a 5 yard touchdown to make it 7-0 with 2:34 left in the first quarter.
Coach Walker had an interesting game plan on offense. Every other drive he would switch Quarterbacks. The two were Ben Petschke and Gunnar Fisher. He added that they would continue to do it in future games.
Midway through the second quarter North Allegheny extended their lead on a second touchdown run by Ben Maenza this time 10 yards.
Central Catholic got on the board later in quarter. They had it inside the red zone but on third down North Allegheny came up with a huge sack to hold Central Catholic to a field goal. At the end of the game Coach Walker had this to say, “We did good things in a lot of different ways, but flat out defense won this football game. The defense played unbelievable, they were lights out, they took their best plays away, and they swarmed to the ball.” North Allegheny led 17-3 at half.
On the kickoff Central Catholic muffed the kick and North Allegheny recovered, the drive didn’t result in any points. Central Catholic also turned it over in their next drive. Again North Allegheny couldn’t capitalize.
Central Catholic got the ball once again and after a run Central Catholic turned it over again. At the end of the game I asked Coach Walker how big it was to force several turnovers in the second half and he said, “When you put them and take them out of their game plan, and make them throw more, our guys tend to understand a little more of what’s going on, we stayed in coverage, we still pressured the quarterback, in the end they switched up quarterbacks, we got them out of what they’re comfortable with, and when you do that things tilt your way.”
North Allegheny added a field goal which made 17-3 at the end of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter was a lot of the same North Allegheny added another field goal and later added the exclamation point making the final score 27-3. I should add also midway through the final quarter for a brief moment the press box was distracted by JuJu Smith Schuster running up the stairs right next to the North Allegheny student section.
