They capitalized on the mistake and scored on a run play to make it 12-8 with 9:57 in the second. Coach Walker at the end of the game said, “We had a fast start and a lot of mistakes. We had a couple assignment errors, turnovers, penalties and stuff like that stopped us on some opening drives”.
Later in the quarter North Allegheny would retake the lead on a 3 yard run by Ben Maenza. The drive took up a little over 5 minutes. Before the end of the second half Isaac West kicked a 39 yard field goal making the score 18-12 at half.
North Allegheny tightened it up in the second half and eventually started to pull away. North Allegheny extended their lead early in the third on a 14 yard pass from Ben Petschke to Joey Porter Junior.
The defense shut down COF’s offense throughout the second half. At the end of the game Coach Walker said, “We tightened things up defensively, played a great game and really did well all night, we made it tough on them a few times.”
North Allegheny scored once more in the third on Ben Maenza’s third touchdown run of the night. That made it 31-12 at the end of 3.
In the fourth North Allegheny added 2 more touchdowns which made it 45-12. COF added a garbage time touchdown to make the final 45-20.
It was a close game at halftime but North Allegheny pulled away in the second half. Coach Walker said at the end of the game, “It was good to be in a tight game going into the second half to see what we were made of.”
Ben Maenza had a big game who had 144 yards on 23 carries and had 3 touchdowns. On defense Amosis Porter had a sack and had 7.5 total tackles. Cade Hoke also had 1.5 sacks.
