The Penns Valley Rams advance with a huge victory over the Marion Center Stingers 48-12 Saturday night to move into the next round of district six, double a playoffs. Leading the Rams offense was senior quarterback Aaron Tobias, finishing the game with 225 yards passing with 4 touchdowns. Tobias only needs one more touchdown throw to tie the state record. Tobias may have been the leading offensive player of the game, but Penns Valley’s defense was the main contributor to their victory. In total Penns Valley had four interceptions, two sacks and two fumble recoveries on the night. To open the night Tobias found senior Logan Snyder on the first play of the game for a huge 40 yard gain down to the Stingers 25-yard line. The next play Tobias found Austin Fisher for the 25-yard touchdown just two plays into the game. The point-after attempt (PAT) was good, making the score 7-0 Rams with 11:40 to go in the first quarter.

Along with that touchdown, Fisher broke the county record for receiving touchdowns in a season with 16. After this score, the game transitioned to multiple drives with turnovers. It started with a Marion Center fumble followed by a Penns Valley turnover and finally a Penns Valley interception by junior Aiden Brinker. This interception would lead to another Tobias touchdown pass. This time he would find junior Mason Lieb from 8 yards out extending the Ram lead to 14-0 after a successful PAT.

The very next Stinger drive the Rams defense capitalized. On a screenplay junior defensive linemen John Aston would step in front of the intended receiver and take the ball 23 yards into the endzone for a pick-six with one second to go in the first quarter. This made the score 21-0 Rams after a successful PAT. The second quarter became a defensive match as no points were scored throughout the quarter until Tobias hit Stephen Ripka for a 54-yard touchdown. The score gave the Rams a 28-0 lead going into halftime.

The second half was more of the same as neither team could find an edge. The first points of the second half came late when Tobias would throw his fourth and final touchdown of the night. Again he would find Lieb, but this time from 4 yards out. The PAT was no good making the score 34-0 Rams with 4:38 to go in the third quarter.

Marion Center would make another big mistake on the following possession as Brinker got his second interception of the night, but this time returning it 32 yards for a touchdown. This gave the Rams a 41-0 lead after a successful PAT with 4:01 left in the third quarter. Marion Center again threw an interception the very next drive this time Rams defensive back Brennan Hyde came up with the ball.

Penns Valley could not get any points from the turnover however, the next Marion Center drive they turned the ball over on downs. This led to a 14-yard touchdown by Rams running back Seth Baney. This made the score 48-0 after a made PAT with 6:04 to go in the fourth quarter. Marion Center would score two times to end the ball game. Both scores came from running back Garet Wells. Wells would score from 15 yards out and one yard out to close out the game. The two touchdowns made the final score of 48-12 Rams.

The Marion Center Stingers season came to a close Saturday night. Penns Valley advances into the next round of district play and will face top-seeded Richland next week.
