PROTIME PREDICTIONS by Phil

Besides the Beatles, Styx is Protime’s favorite musical group. Styx had one of the greatest live shows Protime ever saw and of course the songs such as Lorelei, Babe, Lady, Suite Madame Blue, Come Sail Away, Fooling Yourself, and the one Protime plays while predicting, Crystal Ball, are classics. Protime hearkens back to three other groups or singers he actually met or almost met.
Protime took a wrong turn in the old Civic Arena and came upon Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart after their concert. They invited him to go party with the band in their dressing room, but Protime sheepishly declined. Your Favorite Forecaster met Alice Cooper after a game of golf and got his autograph a few years ago. He really is and always was a nice guy. Finally, at a Stones concert Protime got close to Mick Jagger who waved, but then turned and went another way. The Stones, and especially Jagger, put on quite a show. In fact, Mick had more moves than Saquon Barkley.
Last week Protime stumbled a bit going 18-7. His record for the year is 137-38 which equivocates to a .783 correctness rate. Here are the prodigious predictions by the Dean of Discenment for week 7.
Clearfield 7-0 @ Bald Eagle Area 7-0 – Congratulations to Clearfield’s Isaac Rumery who is going to walk on at Penn St. He has tossed the football for 1,493 yards and 16 TDs, plus he has 6 scores on the ground. His completion percentage is 70% and he’s only thrown one pick all year. Jake Lezzer (717 yards – 7 TDs) and Taye Lynch (7 TDs) are Rumery’s prime targets. Caleb Freeland has 12 TDs on the ground for the Bison. BEA has a gem in Jaden Jones at QB. He has 1,684 yards passing with 20 TDs. He has rushed for six scores too. His main man out of a flock of Bald Eagle receivers is Kaden Bittinger. In overtime, the Bison rumble to a 45-42 victory over the Bald Eagles in Protime’s game of the week!
Wilmington 6-1 @ Sharpsville 6-1 – Big game in D-10 was almost overlooked by Protime. Thanks to Kat McConahy, Protime has added this important game to his prognostications. The Greyhounds are led by RB Cameron Marett and his 654 yards toting the agate. He has 11 rushing TDs and 17 overall. Robert Pontius slings the ball with efficiency for Wilmington. He’s thrown for 702 yards and 8 TDs. Sharpsville has a good one in Nick Alexander at QB. He’s pitched the pigskin for 1,472 yards and 14 scores. RB Kobe Joseph has run for 783 yards and amassed 19 total touchdowns (16 on the ground). Protime’s prediction is Wilmington defeating the Blue Devils 21-16.
McGuffey 7-0 @ Charleroi 5-1 – Should be a good one. The Highlanders’ QB Marshall Whipkey has thrown for 9 TDs. RB Christian Clutter has scored 23 total touchdowns. The Charleroi Cougars have Geno Pellegrini at the helm. He has 812 yards and 15 touchdowns. He has also rushed for another 476 yards. RB Brayden Milhalcin has run for 655 yards with 11 tallies. Protime goes with the upset, Charleroi’s Cougars 24 McGuffey’s Highlanders 21.
Mohawk 6-1 @ Burgettstown 6-0 – Here’s another good game. Mohawk QB Nick Wheeler has 1,211 yards with 17 TD passes. WR Nate McCutcheon has pulled down 8 TD passes to go with his team leading 628 yards catching the ball. The Bulldogs have Jake Lounder at the helm, who is also the leading rusher. Ethan Brothers leads the ‘Dog defense, while Parker Lyons has the same honor for the Warriors. Mohawk by a hair, 28-27.
Bishop Guilfoyle 5-2 @ Forest Hills 5-2 – BG comes to town behind QB Danny Carrieri who can throw and run. WR Dan Potopa is the Marauders top pass catcher. Paul Liebel must continue to excel on defense for BG to have a chance against the Rangers. Adam Cecere barks the signals for FH. He has 1,601 yards and 11 TDs. He’s chipped in 9 scores rushing also. Jason Wissinger anchors the Forest Hill ‘D’. Protime has it 28-24, the Rangers.
Clarion 6-1 @ Bradford 4-3 – QB Archer Mills has 958 yards throwing the agate. Archer has 13 TD passes this season. WR Sam Minich has 588 yards and 10 touchdowns. Mr. Minich is the leader of the Bobcat defense to boot. Bradford’s Owls are led by Donny Pattison’s 1,026 yards on the ground and his 13 scores. Jaron Ambrose has 7 rushing TDs of his own. Take Clarion to rebound from their loss to Ridgway last week 27-22.
Bedford 5-2 @ Richland 7-0 – No surprise that the Bedford Bison are a running team. Dylan Arnold is the offensive leader with 723 yards and 11 tallies. Elijah Cook and Mercury Swaim are the two top tacklers for Bedford. Joe Hauser is having quite a year for the Richland Rams. He has pitched the pigskin for 1,625 yards and 23 TDs. He finds Caleb Burke quite often. Burke has 41 snabs for 805 yards and 12 scores. RB Zack Vogelsberger has crossed the goal line 8 times. Richland 38 Bedford 20.
Mount Lebanon 3-4 @ Pine-Richland 6-1 – Mt. Lebo is not a bad team. They have a very difficult schedule and this week it gets harder facing possibly the top 6A team in the west. The Blue Devils are led by QB Seth Morgan, who has thrown for 1,235 yards and rushed for another 403 markers. Pine-Richland’s Rams have Cole Spencer, just a sophomore, at quarterback. He has 864 yards to his credit in the passing department. Luke Meckler has rambled for 11 TDs from his half back position. It’ll be the Rams over the Blue Devils 31-7.
Farrell 7-0 @ Reynolds 4-3 – The #1 ranked Steelers have a potent offense. In fact, they’ve racked up 367 points to date. QB Kyi Wright (935 yds.-15 TDs-70% completion rate), WR Jourdan Townsend (41 catches-708 yds.-13 TDs), and RB Christian Lewis (1,035 yds.-14 TDs) appear to be an unstoppable three-headed monster. The Reynolds Raiders are ground pounders and in order to stay with Farrell they’ll have to control the ball when they have it. Jordan Decarmen leads the blue and grey’s running game for the year, while Cole Toy led the team last week. Farrell 42 Reynolds 20.
Fort LeBoeuf 5-2 @ Oil City 6-1 – LeBouef’s rushing attack is led by Tynan Mazur who has 9 touchdowns. He is versatile too as he caught 4 passes last Friday for 104 yards. Oil City’s Christian Cole has a mind-boggling 2,087 yards running the ball with 28 TDs! He averages a head-scratchin’ 13.5 yards a carry. Plus, he has scored 16 two-point conversions. Freshman Brayden Crocker leads the team in tackles. Gotta pick the Oilers to beat the Bisons by a score of 40-30.
Greensburg Central Catholic 5-2 @ Jeannette 7-0 – GCC is trying to bring the swagger back. QB Max Pisula helps with 937 yards and 14 TDs passing. WR Brandon Brown is a prime target. The Jayhawks have Seth Howard at QB. He’s thrown for 895 yards and 12 tallies. Marcus Barnes is the main Jeannette threat receiving. Protime has the Jayhawks over the Centurions 32-16.
West Middlesex 6-1 @ Mercer 3-4 – The Big Reds predicate their offense around RB Clayton Parrish who has 930 yards rushing and 14 goal line crossings. Zach Long is a terror on defense for WM. The Mustangs of Mercer are led by half back Brian Shevitz. This will be a close game, but West Middlesex prevails 26-18.
Everett 4-3 @ Southern Huntingdon 5-2 – Protime has a nose for good games and this may be one of the better games of the night. QB Macen Akers has 9 TD passes and Brandon Mills has caught over half of his team’s receptions for the visiting Warriors. The Rockets counter with Scott Garlick at QB and his 9 TD tosses. RB Eric Patton has propelled for 974 markers and 9 TDs so far. The crystal ball says So. Huntingdon 21 Everett 20.
Freedom 41 Neshannock 30 – The team wearing red and white will win and the team wearing red and white will lose! Bulldogs topple the Lancers.
Shady Side Academy 37 Fort Cherry 20 – The Indians scalp the Rangers and continue to be unbeaten in 2018.
Tussey Mountain 28 Glendale 14 – The Titans flex their muscles in defeating the Vikings.
Grove City 42 Conneaut 28 – The Eagles beat up on the Eagles as Grove City maintains their perfect record.
Seneca Valley 21 Woodland Hills 14 – Seneca Valley is a good team. Woody High is improving. Look for the Raiders to be a touchdown better than the Wolverines.
Ligonier Valley 38 Northern Cambria 14 – The Colts of NC are having a great year, but the Rams of LV are too strong.
Penns Valley 41 Bishop Carroll 18 – Again, the Rams are too strong for the opposition. In this case the Huskies are the victims.
Coudersport 14 Redbank Valley 12 – The Falcons find a way to nip the Bulldogs.
Ridgway 30 Karns City 24 – Protime predicts an Elker letdown after defeating Clarion. But, they do enough to edge the game Gremlins.
Mercyhurst Prep 35 Girard 17 – The Lakers stay unblemished in squashing the Yellow Jackets.
Washington 34 Beth-Center 21 – Good game, but in the end the Little Prexies get the better of the Bulldogs.
Peters Township 24 Chartiers Valley 21 – Another entertaining contest. The Indians ride out the win over the Colts.
Avonworth 22 East Allegheny 21 – It’s a toss-up. So, Protime flips his trusty coin and the Antelopes escape the Wildcat clutch, barely.
