Written by: on Thursday, September 28th, 2017

Week 5 in the PSAC is the second week of divisional play. We have two matchups that are going to bookend the day. From a big matchup out east starting at noon (3-1) Kutztown visits (3-1) West Chester. The night ends with a top 20 matchup as #5 California visits #18 Slippery Rock.

Kutztown @ West Chester
Lock Haven @ Shippensburg
East Stroudsburg @ Cheyney
Bloomsburg @ Millersville
Gannon @ Mercyhurst
Clarion @ Edinboro
#4 IUP @ Seton Hill
#5 California @ #18 Slippery Rock

Some of the highlights for the week are a homecoming matchup in Erie as Gannon looks rebound and Mercyhurst tries to build momentum. Down I79 about 15 miles the Fighting Scots look to bounce back from back to back defeats as winless Clarion comes to town.

The early game of the season in the PSAC East kicks off the day in West Chester, the preseason favorite host the defending champion Kutztown. The Golden Bears want to prove that last season was more than a fluke and this is the chance they have for that.

Ranked Teams :
(AFCA top 25 / top 25)

IUP # 4/3
Cal U # 5/5
Slippery Rock # 18/17

California @ Slippery Rock
In a rival that dates back ninety plus years SRU leads the all time series. California looks to break through at what over the last 15 years has been the toughest place to play for them. This is resurgence for SRU this year after a slide last season. The Rock is leaning on QB Tanner Garry and have been very dangerous in the air. The Vulcans have not been as dominate as last season but it would appear to be a very balanced team. Both teams almost got beat last week but both will be fired up come Saturday. In what will be possibly the best atmosphere in the league this season the Vulcan Marching band will make the trip and expect a huge night game crowd from SRU. If you are in the area, and yes all of I79 is the area make plans to be in the Rock at 6pm Saturday.
