Coming into week 6, both Peters Township and Moon were looking for a conference win. Last week Peters Township fell short to Canon Mac 35-26 in a non conference matchup and Moon fell short to Bethel Park with a score of 38-14 in a conference game. Only one team would come out with a win in this Allegheny 8 conference game, and that team was the Peters Township Indians with a score of 33-21.
“It was nice to get back with a win after last week,” said Peters Township head coach TJ Plack, “I told the kids in the locker room, I don’t care how we get it done, as long as we get out of here with a W thats the important thing. Moon is a scrappy team and its good to just get out of here with a win.”
In the first half Peters Township tallied four touchdowns and three of the four came from Josh Casilli. The first Indians touchdown came from Ryan Magiske on a 2 yard touchdown run. All three of the Casilli touchdowns were passing. First a 37-yard, then a 61-yard, and finally a 40-yard touchdown pass from Indians quarterback, Logan Pfeuffer. Moon was able to tally one touchdown in the second quarter on a 46-yard pass by Dante Clay to Jamal Littlejohn to put the Tigers on the board. At halftime, the Indians led 27-7.
In the second half, the Tigers tallied two touchdowns and were able to hold Peters Township to just one. Their first came from a 31-yard touchdown pass from Clay to Logan Young. Moon’s special teams were able to provide their second score on a blocked punt by Zack Jadlocki for a 12-yard touchdown return. Peters Township’s only touchdown of the second half came from Jackson McCloskey on a 28 yard touchdown pass from Pfeuffer. Moon ran out of time to end any hope of coming back. The Indians won 33-21.
Peters Township quarterback, Logan Pfeuffer, completed 15/20 passes for 331 yards and 4 touchdowns. Josh Casilli caught 6 passes for 192 yards with 3 touchdowns and Ryan Magiske had 135 rushing yards on 14 carries and 1 touchdown. Moon quarterback, Dante Clay, completed 17/26 passes for 210 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.
In his rookie campaign as the Indians starting quarterback, Pfeuffer has settled into a groove with over 300 yards passing in his last two games.
“What has helped me is having an experienced line that gives me time to make all the reads,” Pfeuffer said, “Another factor is having weapons all around me that I can get the ball to.”
Peters Township has an experienced offensive line, anchored by Ian Chauderi, Logan Clark, Rob Corrado, Grant Nelson, and Shane O’Connell.
Both teams have conference games on the road next week. The Indians (4-1) (5-2) will be playing Chartiers Valley, kickoff at 7pm and Moon (1-3) (2-5) will take on Upper St. Clair at 7:30pm.
