Quips pitch another shutout, avenge 2016 loss to Clairton

Written by: on Tuesday, October 10th, 2017

The rematch took place Friday in front of a full house at Carl A Aschman stadium. The Clairton Bears, last season, destroyed Aliquippa in a driving rain just west of the Monongahela river, 52-16. Then, Bears senior, now Penn State Lamont Wade rushed for 259 yards with 4 touchdowns and only did so on 11 carries. Dominance to say the least.
Clairton, entered the contest off of a loss, a situation most Clairton players are not accustomed to. Imani Christian defeated the Bears last weekend, 18-6. Aliquippa cruised past South Park, 52-0 placing the Quips shutout record to five on the season. The Quips defense would be the focal point of the contest. Another stout defensive performance was delivered, this time to Clairton. The Quips held the Bears offense to only a staggering 9 yards of total offense in the first half. The only offense displayed was from the Quips. Deoveon Crute opened up the scoring on a 10 yard reception from Eli Kosanovich. Tariq Jones would also score twice on touchdown rushes in the first half. The Quips would go into the half leading, 20-0.
The second half saw a smorgasbord of penalties, 33 to be exact. These penalties are what led to the only 3 first downs that Clairton was able to pickup. Aliquippa’s Avante “Chief” McKenzie would score in the 4th quarter to put the contest in the books, 28-0.
Clairton, drops it’s first back-to-back defeats for the first time since 2005.  Aliquippa will prepare for a conference showdown next Friday with undefeated & Cinderella story Quaker Valley from Leetsdale.

Funny how the officials missed the illegal hurdle by Lamont Wade on one of his 11 carries.
