Washington has some solid firepower back from a team which finished 8-3 overall and reached the WPIAL AA quarterfinals opposite Aliquippa. The Prexies have been on the rise of late, and move from the Century Conference and teams like South Fayette and Seton-LaSalle to the Interstate Conference and teams like Jeannette, Greensburg Central Catholic and Mount Pleasant. Despite the move, Washington still figures to be near the top of the conference heap and possibly vying for a home game in the opening round of the WPIAL playoffs.
Leading the charge for the Prexies is junior feature back Shai McKenzie and his 1,202 yards rushing and 20 total touchdowns, putting him on pace for more than 3,500 career rushing yards. Jaylin Kelly (64 rush, 512 yds), who holds an offer from Bowling Green, and Daron Whitaker (43 rush, 379 yards) also return to aid McKenzie, as does three-year varsity starter Josh Wise (765 combined rush/pass yds, 14 total TD). Rikwon Moore is a returning lineman, but Washington must deal with some losses from graduation, which claimed several bodies up front and on defense, including All-State selection Eric Ellis, who set a school single-season record for sacks.
