The Golden Eagles finished the 2009 season with a 10-3 overall record and fell in the District 6 AA championship game to Forest Hills, 17-14. Tyrone observed a milestone as head coach John Franco (204-79-2) won his 200th career football game. Junior QB Steve Franco threw for 1,513 yards and 15 TD, completing 55 percent of his passes. Other solid juniors returning to the Tyrone fold include WR/DB Nick Patton (19 rec., 527 yds., 5 TD), RB/DB Christian Getz (61 rush, 209 yds), RB/DB J.D. Dorminy (half a sack, 1 INT) and OL/DL Courtland Pennabaker (4 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries). Senior TE/LB Ian Murray (3 INT) and DL Jared Templeton (6 sacks) also return and will play key defensive roles for the Golden Eagles, who are 75-12 overall since the start of the 2003 season
