Team #6 Wilmington Area (10)

The Greyhounds have been on quite the unprecedented run in the PIAA playoffs these last four years, reaching the AA state semifinals four consecutive years. Why is that remarkable? It’s never been done in the 21-year history of the state playoff system, eastern or western. Only the Mount Carmel Red Tornadoes had played in three straight AA state semis from 1998 to 2000. The four-time defending District 10 AA champions are 71-10 since the start of 2004. ATH Sutton Whiting, a senior, returns for his senior season after running for 1,232 yards and 20 touchdowns. Jason McFarland (78 tackles, 5 sacks) will help anchor the defensive line. But apart from those athletes, the “Hounds Hammer” defense is staring at a blank slate.
