Team scoring stats as of Sept 19

There’s a definite surprise at the top of the scoring sheet in western PA. I mean come on, Aliquippa? That “pound and ground, hold them under 14 points and score just enough to win” team? Not any more. Coach Mike Warfield has this team scoring in a hurry and a flurry. This sleek new offensive juggernaut has put up 224 points in four games to date, leading districts 5-10. Coming in 2nd are the Prexies of Washington with 205 points. The Bears of Clairton have 96 points in just three games and they may be the leaders if not for a 2-0 forfeit win.
Statewide, District three’s William Penn leads the way with 231, followed by the Quips and Delone Catholic with 218 points.
Defensively, Clairton leads the way with 0 points allowed. Right behind them? Yep, Aliquippa. The offense has changed but the defense hasn’t, only allowing 6 points to date. Burgettstown has also only allowed 6 points and Ligonier Valley comes in third only allowing 15 points.
Statewide, 3 teams have yet to give up a point. Boys Latin in D12, Clairton and Tamaqua lead the way there. They are followed by Thomas Edison in D12 with 2 points allowed and the Quips, Burgettstown and Jules E Mastbaum all with 6 points allowed.
