Tyler Benedict accounted for four touchdowns, and the Scotties defense held the Flames to just 58 yards of total offense as Union got back on the winning track with a 39-0 victory over Northgate Saturday afternoon.
“A win is a win, and right now we’ll take them any way we can get them,” said Robinson. “It was a great bounce-back win from the last two games we’ve played.”
After being shutout in back-to-back games by Cornell and Sto-Rox – Union scored on their first four possessions against the Flames and never looked back.
Freshman Tyler Staub hauled in a 33-yard touchdown, and Jackson Clark ran a 6-yard score in the first quarter.

Both Staub and Benedict scored second-quarter touchdowns as Staub scored on an 8-yard pass from Benedict, who also scored on a 2-yard keeper that pushed Union’s lead to 25-0 at halftime.
Union piled up 290 yards of offense with 189 rushing and 101 passing, most of which came in the first three quarters.
“We were trying to come out and fine tune some things that we have not been doing the last two weeks successfully,” said Robinson. “We were able to work on some things, and hopefully we are getting better at it.”
The Scotties put the mercy-rule into effect with a pair of third-quarter touchdowns by Jackson Clark.
Clark scored on a 5-yard pass from Benedict and 4-yard rush.
“Northgate naturally has great athletes; they don’t have a lot of them this year. We’ve played them the last couple of years, and it’s been a struggle, but I’m glad it was a bit easier this year,” said Robinson.
Mike Flowers led Union’s ground-game with 82 yards on 12 carries, Jackson had seven rushes for 77 yards – Benedict completed 7-of-10 pass for 101 yards with three touchdowns and an interception while also rushing for 30 yards on five attempts.
Anthony Barbarino led Northgate with 45 yards rushing on 18 carries, Heman Darjee also had n interception for the Flames.
Northgate’s best chance to get on the board came late in the second quarter as Dylan White made three catches for 55 yards, but the drive would end on a missed field goal by Darjee.
“Our team has a lot of young guys on it, we’re focused on getting better every week,” said Northgate head coach Mike Fulmore. “We keep encouraging these guys to give what they have, and they did that. They played a 48-minute game out there, and I’m very proud of them.
