The rain came down early and often on Penn-Trafford’s senior night. As the Warriors took on the Franklin Regional Panthers. That didn’t stop the Warriors’ offense as they marched down the field early in the first quarter resulting in a touchdown run by junior quarterback Gabe Dunlap. The point after attempt failed when Penn-Trafford tried a fake field goal. The first quarter, would end with a score of 6-0.
In the second quarter, Penn-Trafford used the leg of senior kicker Keaton Heir to go up 9-0. Then, the Warriors would break off a long run from the wildcat formation when senior wide receiver Dimitri George took it to the endzone to make the score 16-0 at the half.
Franklin Regional would hold strong until Dunlap took it in from two yard line for a Warriors’ touchdown to make it 23-0. Then, Penn-Trafford’s junior speedster running back Caleb Lisbon ran into the endzone to make the score 30-0 to end the third.
The Panthers’ offense would come alive in the fourth quarter when junior running back Zac Gordon broke off a huge run for a touchdown to make it 30-7. Franklin Regional would only be able to put together one more scoring drive when sophomore Colton Johns took a quarterback sneak in for the score to make it a 30-14 final.
Both of these teams have clinched spots in the 5A WPIAL Playoffs. Their opponents will be announced on Tuesday. Franklin Regional will play on the road and Penn-Trafford will play at home. The Panthers’ finish the regular season with a 6-3 overall record and 4-3 in the conference. The Warriors’ end the season 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the conference and on a 8 game win streak.
