With an unexpected week off in the early part of the season, the Ligonier Valley Rams got off to a slow start on Friday against West Shamokin. A 28 point explosion in the second quarter made up for the slow start as the Rams went on to defeat the Wolves 42-12 to remain unbeaten.

West Shamokin took the opening kickoff and drove deep into LV territory mostly on the strength of a long pass play down their own sideline. From there, the Rams defense held the Wolves out of

the end zone. After a quick turnover by the LV offense, the Wolves again found themselves deep in Rams territory but would again be turned away and the quarter ended 0-0. The Ligonier defensive line was outstanding during both stands and would control the line of scrimmage all night. Mike Petrof was disruptive all night and ended the game with 8 tackles including 2 sacks, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble on one of the sacks. Wiley Spiker also had two tackles for loss and a fumble recovery and Blake Bridge had a tackle for loss as well during the course of the game. Zach Beitel also collected 2 interceptions for the Rams.

The LV offense would get things going in the second quarter with Sam Sheeder starting the scoring with a 4 yard run. Peter Stoll added the first of his seven PATs to make it 7-0 early in the second. Kyrie Miller collected the next two touchdowns on runs of 6 and 3 yards and would set up the final Rams touchdown of the quarter with a 40 yard run to the Wolves 20 yard line. The Rams were able to spike the ball with 1 second left until halftime. On that final snap, John Caldwell connected with Aaron Tutino down their own sideline for a 20 yard score as time expired and made it 28-0 Rams at the break.

The second half was interrupted by a lightning delay and heavy rain. After the stoppage, the Wolves got on the board on a 21 yard pass from Tyler Lightcap to Jaiden Haswell. The conversion pass failed and the score stood at 28-6. The Rams bounced back with two more scores on runs by Ayden Kelley and Sheeder. West Shamokin got another TD on the last play of the game to set the final at 42-12.

Kyrie Miller led the Rams on offense with 202 yards rushing on 19 attempts and 2 touchdowns. John Caldwell finished 9 of 20 for 100 yards with 1 TD and 2 interceptions. Aaron Tutino collected 5 catches for 65 yards and a score.

The Rams welcomes Purchase Line to Weller Field for Homecoming on Friday at 7 PM. West Shamokin will look to get back on track with a game at Penns Manor Friday at 7 PM.
