West Allegheny rallies to win 5A Championship over McKeesport

Later in the first West Allegheny tied it up at 7. Kenny White was off to the races for a 70 yard touchdown with 54 seconds in the first.
In the second quarter McKeesport regained the lead on a 22 yard touchdown by Carlinos Acie. That lead wouldn’t last before the game got to half. West Allegheny tied it up when Nick Ross found Kenny White for a 37 yard touchdown with 5:16 in the second. That was the score at halftime.
West Allegheny got the ball to start the second half. The drive took up 4:22 but resulted in zero points.
On the next drive McKeesport took the lead again. Jayvaun Shears found the end zone from 3 yards out and the score was 22-14. That would be the score at the end of 3.
After a safety McKeesport led 24-14. West Allegheny put a drive together and scored on a Nick Ross pass to Mateo Vandamia. The extra point was blocked and the score was 24-20 McKeesport.
West Allegheny tried a onside kick and recovered it and they had the ball at McKeesport 45. They would take the lead on a 1 yard run by Willy Weber.
McKeesport drove down the field and scored with 58 seconds left. The extra point was no good and the score was 30-27.
West Allegheny drove down the field and got far enough to attempt a 49 yard field goal. The kick was short and McKeesport was celebrating but a roughing the kicker penalty gave West Allegheny a second chance. DJ Opsatnik nailed a 34 yard field goal to send it to overtime.
McKeesport took the lead on its possession of the first overtime 37-30. West Allegheny scored eventually on their possession. They decided to go for 2 and Nick Ross score from 2 yards out to give West Allegheny a 38-37 win.
Kenny White had a big role in the win. He had 101 yards on 13 carries. He also had one catch for 37 yards. Nick Ross was 26 of 39 for 257 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also had the winning 2 point conversion. Ray Zellars for McKeesport had 111 yards on 21 carries for 2 touchdowns.
